The famous Hanauma Bay with a tribal tattoo of the turtle image, turtles are a prosperous sign and turtle tattoos were used on chiefs, and the shell represented protection. One Hawaiian myth says that it was "Honu" (Hawaiian for turtle) who guided the first inhabitants of Hawaii to their new home.
